| 5 Interview »Trends reshape the world. They are born out of the constant changes in society and technology. People use trends to express themselves: their personality, attitudes, dreams and emotions. This is where the home they live in is the most important place that reflects their approach to life. Their living space is created by patterns, shapes, colours and materials. Architecture has a huge influence on the emergence of trends in home furnishing. It brings spaces into being that unite the spirit of the time with ideas to create something new. Furniture gives these spaces their personality. The design of furniture choreographs home environments that not only provide a detailed reflection of the architecture of the whole but also of personal individuality. As a design element, a furniture handle plays an important part in a room. With little effort, a handle can be used to take a trend to any piece of furniture and provide a powerful impact. To do this, a handle must make a trend a tangible experience. Design, material and feel must be unmistakeable. The handle is the first part you touch, the first contact with furniture. As a designer, you always hope your design will create more than a trend – and be a product that turns into a design classic.« Stephen Williams played a key part in coining the term “Corporate Architecture“. In addition to architecture as his core activity, he also provides the interior design in most of his projects. His Hamburg-based company employs fourteen members of staff from the fields of architecture, product design, graphics and project management.
